Cabin in the Woods Part 10: Cedar Porch Framing
Description
In this episode of Cabin in the Woods, we work on the cedar porch framing. I show you the method in determining the rafter cuts, how we detail the connections of the cedar post and beam, and another great example of using math while framing.
We typically like to temporarily fasten all the main porch framing members until everything is where we like it. Then we come back in and install our permanent connections whether it be a metal hanger or structural lag screw. On this job we have been testing some Power Pro structural screws and have been happy with them. If you have used GRK screws or other high end structural framing screws, and are happy with them, you would be happy with these power pro screws for framing. It is always good to have options!
Thinking of making a builder centric "math" video. What are things you would like to have me include in the video? Drop me a comment if you would!
