Coronavirus outbreak: Ontario cases nearing 600, one new death reported | FULL
Description
Ontario associate chief medical officer Dr. Barbara Yaffe said on Tuesday during a press briefing the province had recorded another COVID-19 related death, the individual was a man in his 90s. This comes as Ontario recorded 85 new cases in the province, bringing the total number of cases to 588.
Yaffe also said they could comfortably say 13 per cent of the cases identified had no connection to travel or close contact with people diagnosed and were likely transmitted through community spread.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams said that the province was now in a "critical week," saying essential businesses staying open must continue to mandate social distancing and put in place measures that can ensure the practice. He also said they are optimistic that with spring on the horizon they could see some "easing off," but with travelers returning to the province in the coming weeks there is still a cause for concern.
