Coronavirus outbreak: Quebec officials outline plan to protect seniors amid COVID-19 pandemic

Quebec’s health minister Danielle McCann and seniors minister Marguerite Blais made an announcement concerning seniors in the province affected by COVID-19 on Friday.
McCann stated that extra measures that were being taken to protect both the elderly and those living and working in care facilities during the pandemic, which included increased screening, prioritizing facilities that currently have outbreaks, and increasing support to health care workers.
Blais announced that Dr. Quoc Dinh Nguyen, an Internist-geriatrician who specializes in epidemiology of the elderly, would act as their special advisor during the pandemic.
Blais added that “no living environment is going to be left behind” because the COVID-19 outbreak “affects environments where our elderly live more strongly.”
