Governor DeWine updates the Public Health Advisory System map

Northeast Ohio COVID-19 cases are decreasing. Cuyahoga County has fallen out of the Top 10 Counties Ranked By Highest Occurrence and is nearly out of the red, the level meaning “high incidence,” in the the state’s coronavirus alert system.

The county averaged 102.1 cases per 100,000, from July 29 to August 11. The actual cases were 1,261. Last week’s average was 114.6 case per 100,000. The CDC level for high incidence is 100 per 100,000.

Nearby, Medina County, which last week saw an increase in cases, has moved from red to orange, with 65.1 cases per 100,000. Actual cases were 117.

“Cuyahoga is seeing a steady decrease,” said Governor Mike DeWine, who noted there have been some outbreaks in long-term care and group homes.

If Cuyahoga can moved to less than 100 cases per 100,000, they will move to the orange alert level.
