President Moon reassures public amid coronavirus outbreak

文대통령 "신종 코로나, 극복 가능…위축될 필요 없어"

President Moon Jae-in reassured the public there's no need for excessive concern over the coronavirus outbreak,... as the government is capable of overcoming the situation.
In a meeting with top aides earlier today,... he highlighted that South Korea has one of the most advanced medical systems in the world as well as quarantine experience.
Although we can't lower our guard until the situation is completely over, there's no need to cower in excessive fear or anxiety. I ask the people to have trust in our medical system and follow safety precautions.
The president also mentioned that three patients have been fully cured and discharged from hospital,... adding that according to experts, the disease is not as serious in South Korea and has a low fatality rate.
In regards to minimizing the fallout on the economy,... Moon said the government will deploy all possible means.
He vowed customized support measures depending on the industry, company and region... and to speed up financial support for small business owners.
The South Korean leader also warned of stern punishment for those that engage in illicit activities,... such as hoarding face masks or spreading fake news.
