S. Korea reports 31st case of COVID-19
Description
코로나19 국내 31번째 확진환자 발생..."해외여행력 없어"
South Korea has reported another case of the coronavirus today, bringing the total now to 31.
The health authorities are still trying to figure out how the 29th and 30th patients got infected.
With the latest, we have our Kim Mok-yeon on the line.
Mok-yeon?
Devin, the 31st patient is a 61-year old South Korean woman.
She lives in the city of Daegu, which is about 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,... she has not recently traveled overseas.
Prior to the confirmation of her infection,... she had been hospitalized because of a car accident and had also been to a hotel restaurant and attended two religious services.
The patient had a fever and showed symptoms of pneumonia when she visited a local community health center on Monday.
She was immediately quarantined at Daegu Medical Center and was tested for the virus twice in a row and both results came out positive.
It's the first confirmed case in Daegu.
Again, it's not clear how she was infected since she has not been overseas recently and has not had any contact with the previous 30 patients.
And also this morning, two more patients who've fully recovered have been released from quarantine, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 12 out of the total 31.
Meanwhile, news has broken that a Korean national died this afternoon from pneumonia-like symptoms.
According to the authorities, this was a man in his 30s who went to China last month.
The KCDC is currently looking into whether he was infected with COVID-19.
If confirmed, this would be the first coronavirus death in South Korea.
That's all from me for now.
I'll be back with more updates in our later newscast.
