Amongst my friends, diner safety is a common conversation topic. Did you feel safe going to X? How was Y like? Did the staff wear masks?
That is the going to be the norm and diner safety will be a big part of the new restaurant experience in 2021.
And no, my friends and I are NOT the only ones concerned about the safety guidelines when dining out. A survey by Yelp also found that diner safety is one of the most important elements for individuals when and if they dine-in at a restaurant.
And if a customer doesn't feel safe dining in at your restaurant, it turns into negative word of mouth and may even be mentioned in online reviews. You can't take this lightly.
So how can you run a restaurant in 2021?
It is all about perception first. Perception plays a MASSIVE part in building the confidence of customers to feel comfortable to consider dining in your restaurant and when they are physically there. What I mean is that you need to take active steps to showcase that your restaurant takes the safety of the diners seriously.
You can do that using QR codes in your restaurant.
In previous videos I talked about posting on your social media of your staff wearing masks and showing that you have dividers or spaced out tables. This would help. Another step you could do is use QR code to create a virtual tour, which would show all these precautions in a simple video. Much more powerful!
You could also use QR codes to further emphasize your commitment to reducing the spread of the virus in your restaurant. This could be by swapping to contactless menus by placing a QR code on each table for customers to scan on their phone. And to direct customers who first enter your restaurant to scan a QR code to fill out a contact tracing form.
