Top 15 Pregnancy Tips

Couples planning to start a family and pregnant moms are always on a lookout for authentic pregnancy-related tips. Children are nature’s precious gifts. We must therefore take every necessary precaution to safeguard the health of the baby and that of the expecting mom. A baby’s health depends a lot on what mommy eats and does when she is pregnant. Today we share with you, some pregnancy-related tips collated from authentic resources [1, 2]. Everybody’s bodily requirements are unique, so before making any concrete plans based on these tips, please make sure you consult a physician, a gynecologist, and a nutritionist at least once.

• Always make it a point to remain happy and cheerful.
• Eat foods rich in calcium, iron, folic acid, protein, fiber, etc. Fish sometimes contain mercury. Therefore, it is a much better idea to eat fish oil tablets manufactured by trusted brands that ensure mercury removal. Ask your physician if EPA and DHA (omega-3 fatty acid) supplements are right for you.
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
• Besides opting for a balanced diet, you may also need to take a daily multivitamin tablet that contains iron and folic acid along with other key nutrients and vitamins. Do this only after consulting your physician.
• Exercise regularly, but strictly after consulting your gynecologist and keep a track of your weight gain.
• Avoid lifting heavy objects or engaging yourself with difficult household work.
• Delegate work to family members/spouse.
• Avoid air travel. Our body gets exposed to harmful radiation at higher altitudes. If unavoidable, at least opt out of body scans at airport security check points and go for the pat-down procedure.
• Stay away from cats, dogs, and sick people to minimize the risk of infection.
• Avoid risky behavior/dangerous physical activities.
• Smoking of course is out of question. One should not smoke even when not pregnant.
• Meditate every day and get some really good sleep.
• Avoid driving a car. While in the passenger seat, wear your seat belt without fail but make sure you do it correctly (please see these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UruxOx-G7w & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reRWFGJa9KU).
• Plan your delivery day schedule (do a drill months before getting pregnant) and finalize a good maternity hospital. This may sound silly, but is actually quite critical.
• Smile more often! There’s a reason we mentioned this twice.
