2. I am also going to do a 10 Things Sega Got Very Wrong video.
3. The SVP entry could be considered a failure since it was never implemented. I just feel that the original intention of the chip was so much better than the 32X. Any and every Genesis game could have used it freely, it would have been cheaper, and required no additional wires or adapters. I thought it was really impressive in Virtua Racing.
4. I'm not a big fan of Tom Kalinske. I think the dude gets way too much credit for the success of the Genesis and he is directly responsible for lack of good games from Sega of America for the Saturn. I give him credit in this one, however. Packing in Sonic and getting that price down a bit was brilliant.
5. I am still in utter disbelief every time I think about Sega not being ready with Sega Sports titles at the launch of Saturn, or at the very least by the original launch date in September. It was their bread and butter, and instead money on the 32X and Saturn games like Black Fire and Ghen War. WTF??
6. The Genesis and Saturn 6 button pads are 2 of the best controllers ever made for 2D gameplay. Nintendo's controllers aren't even close IMO.
7. For those that do not know about the evolution of the Master System, its started out in Japan as the SG-1000 competing against the Famicom in 1983. It was underpowered and got its ass kicked. Sega went back to the drawing board and gave the SG-1000 a huge boost in graphics, renaming the entire platform the Mark III. This came west as the Master System.
