Coronavirus outbreak: Manitoba could move to next reopening phase by end of May, top doc says | FULL
Description
Manitoba's chief medical officer of health Dr. Brent Roussin and Manitoba Shared Health's chief nursing officer Lanette Siragusa held a briefing on Monday regarding the province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When asked by reporters about the progress of the province's reopening, Roussin said that the provincial government would be monitoring the number of COVID-19 cases as restrictions are loosened, adding that Manitoba could move to the next phase of reopening by end of May or early June.
Roussin also advised that Manitoba residents will need to recognize it will no longer "be OK" to show up to work or school if a person is just "mildly ill," and the same would apply to going shopping if feeling unwell.
Two new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed on Monday, bringing Manitoba’s total to 289. Roussin advised two of the three cases reported on Sunday, which were in the Prairie Mountain Health Region, were part of a cluster from a trucking company. The death toll sits at seven after no new deaths were reported Monday.
