Description

This Door Frame drill shows a variation of the squat that uses upward force to help bring proximal stability to your core. When squatting, a lack of proximal stability causes flexion in the spine and/or a lack of depth in the hips as a result. To set up, grab your short stick (4-5ft) and place it in the top of the door jam at 12 o'clock, both hands go below the belly button. First, drive the stick up into the door jam at about 50-60% tension. You’ll feel all your core tissue activate and your feet will really drive into the ground. You then simply drop into your squat, pushing upward the entire time. Don’t try to go all the way down the first time, let your body get comfortable with this positioning first. When you get to the bottom of your squat squeeze your elbows together as if compressing a ball to help promote thoracic extension. Hold that position for a few seconds then come back up maintaining tension the whole time. Give this squatting drill a try and see if you can feel the difference in your squat form!

Stick Mobility is a training system that improves your mobility, stability, and strength.

The exercises combine joint mobilization, strength training, and deep fascial stretching to increase athletic performance, reduce the risk of injury, and speed recovery after exercise.

The system uses the Mobility Stick as a simple tool to improve range of motion, muscle activation, coordination, and body awareness to build a strong foundation for better movement. It provides kinesthetic and visual feedback to users and coaches. The Mobility Stick is made with a custom blend of materials designed to achieve the balance of flexibility, strength, and grip needed for the full range of Stick Mobility exercises.

The exercises are based on the scientific principles of:

– Leverage
– Stability
– Feedback
– Irradiation
– Isometrics
– Coordination
